A Guide on How To Remove Wall Panels

A Guide on How To Remove Wall Panels

Wall panels are extremely versatile. They can be installed quickly and easily, transforming a room in a matter of hours. However, they are just as easy to remove. So whether you have a damaged panel, or would simply like a change of décor, this blog looks at how you can remove your wall panels with ease.

What will I Need to Remove Wall Panels?

  • Rubberised gloves

  • Eye protection

  • Putty knife or similar

  • Heat gun (only if you have used strong adhesive)

  • A friend!

How To Remove Panels Without Damaging The Wall

  • If possible, ask a friend to help you. Having a second pair of hands to hold the panel whilst you remove it from the wall, will help to prevent any damage to the panel or the wall.

  • First, ensure you and anyone helping you are safe. Rubberised gloves will help protect your hands as well provide a good grip, whilst eye googles will protect against any unexpected flying adhesive or wall panel.

  • Turn off any nearby electrical outlets.

  • Start by using a putty knife to gently pry the edges of the panel away from the wall

    to create an opening.

  • Next, work your way around the panel, gently easing the panel away from the wall.

  • If you have used a particularly strong adhesive, you may wish to use a heat gun to

soften the glue. This should make it easier to remove from the wall.

  • Once the panels have been removed, scrap off any remaining adhesive and clean

the wall well with warm water.
