Why use wall panels in commercial kitchens?

Why use wall panels in commercial kitchens?

100% waterproof, extremely hygienic, and easy to maintain, PVC wall panels are the perfect addition to any commercial kitchen. This blog looks at where these wall panels can be used and the myriad benefits they offer.

Where could the wall panels be used?

PVC wall panels can be used throughout a commercial kitchen but are particularly useful around food preparation areas and in spaces with temperatures up to 60°, such as behind a gas or electric hob (as long as a piece of heat resistant glass is installed between the wall panel and the hob using 10mm spacers and mirror screws).

Benefits of wall panels

Hygienic PVC wall panels are very easy to maintain, requiring only a wipe with a damp, clean cloth to keep them looking like new. They also do not need any grout during installation, which helps to reduce the risk of mould developing and contributes to a more hygienic environment.

Variety of Styling Choices

PVC wall panels, such as those from National Plastics, come in a variety of different styles, colours, and designs. From traditional tile to opulent marble to contemporary concrete, there will be a PVC wall panel that blends beautifully with the style of your commercial kitchen.

Cleaning and Maintenance

As mentioned above, PVC wall panels are extremely easy to maintain and clean. This helps to save both time and money in a commercial kitchen.

Cost-effective

Whilst PVC wall panels may not be the cheapest wall covering option with regards to initial outlay, they the most cost-effective over their lifetime. Durable and long lasting, quality PVC wall panels can withstand a multitude of knocks and bumps and will last much longer than traditional tiles.

Environmentally friendly

Our range of PVC wall panels are manufactured here in the UK using the most sustainable manufacturing methods possible, helping to reduce the carbon footprint of each panel. They also do not require any harsh chemicals to keep them clean, which contributes to a more environmentally friendly atmosphere.

Water and moisture resistant

All National Plastics panels are 100% waterproof, which helps to prevent the build-up of mould and consequently bacteria. This makes them ideal for use in areas with high levels of condensation that need to be hygienic, such as kitchens.

UV Resistant

Most PVC wall panels, including ours, are UV resistant. This means they will not fade in sunlight and will keep their stylish looks for longer.

Durability

As mentioned above, PVC wall panels are very durable. Unlike traditional tiles which can chip and break, PVC wall panels can withstand high levels of use without showing signs of wear and tear.

Installation

PVC wall panels are extremely easy to install. You do not need any specialist skills or tools, they can be fitted in half the time it takes to install ceramic tiles, and they can be fitted directly over existing tiles and uneven walls.

Different Components Used with Wall Panels

Hybrid Adhesive Adhesives, such as our range of high-quality adhesives from Soudal, are used to adhere PVC wall panels to a surface.

J Cappings

J Cappings, more commonly known as End Caps or U Channels, are what you need if you are starting to panel a section of wall without using a corner. You will also need these if a panel finishes halfway along a wall, and you need to hide its edge.

External and Internal Angles

These are used for fitting panels into and around corners – an internal trim is for going into the corner, and an external trim is for going around the corner.

H Section

A H Section is for joining two panels together. National Plastics PVC wall panels do not require a H Section as our panels join with a tongue and groove joint, which makes for an easier and smoother installation process.

Installation of Wall Panels

As mentioned previously, PVC wall panels are extremely easy to install. They do not require any specialist tools or skills and can be fitted by a competent DIYer.
