Taking a look at the trends for 2022

Taking a look at the trends for 2022

From kitchen extensions to window frame colours, National Plastics predicts the trends that will take 2022 by storm.

Home extensions

Open plan living has been popular for a few years, with homeowners looking for a space which encapsulates a kitchen, dining, and family area all in one room. We believe this trend will continue throughout 2022, with more of us wanting to create that perfect space for modern family living.

The most common ways of achieving this are by building a new extension or by combining existing rooms in to one large space. Whichever method you choose, there are myriad products that will help you add light and style to your kitchen extension:

  • A roof lantern can help to draw in daylight and add a sophisticated focal point to your room. Our roof lanterns have also been specifically designed to have less bars than other designs, and due to a whole host of clip-on elements there are no visible fixings, which makes for a sleek, clean finish.
  • Aluminium bifold doors help to add the illusion of space, bringing the outside in and vice versa. National Plastics bifold doors are available in a range of colours, so they can either complement your new kitchen extension or your existing window frames and doors. They can also fold inwards or outwards, enabling you to make the most of the available space.

Here at National Plastics, we can provide everything you need to create your dream kitchen extension, from EPDM rubber roofing products to window frames and windows. Achieving open plan living may be easier than you think with a little help from us.

Window frame colours

Traditional white will always remain a popular choice when it comes to window frames. However, over the past few years there has been a shift towards coloured frames, with Anthracite Grey proving particularly popular. Here at National Plastics, we believe this trend for coloured window frames will continue to grow throughout 2022 and we are already seeing a growing demand for other colours, such as black.

As well as a shift in colours, we are also seeing a move to smooth profiles as opposed to traditional woodgrain, which have been the most popular choice for a while.

These trends may be due to several factors, such as a younger generation getting on the property ladder, an increase in new builds, or simply homeowners wanting their homes to be individual. Whatever the reason, National Plastics has a wide range of window frames in a variety of colours and finishes to help homeowners achieve a look that is truly tailored to them.

Decking

If there is one positive that has resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic it is our new-found appreciation for the outdoors, especially that space right outside our back doors. This appreciation has led many homeowners to look at how they can improve their gardens and make the most of it. A popular way of doing this – and one trend we’re confident will continue throughout this year – is the addition of decking. Decking not only adds a focal point to a garden, but it provides a place on which to relax and entertain.

To help homeowners create their dream outdoor haven, National Plastics has launched a new range of eco friendly composite decking. Available in reversible ribbed or grooved, or wood effect and a wide range of colours, from contemporary grey and black to traditional brown, our decking range is perfect for those looking to ‘improve not move’ during 2022.

Environmentally aware

A final trend we believe will continue to grow this year is that of sustainability. More people are taking notice of how their products are manufactured. Here at National Plastics we understand the importance of being environmentally aware, which is why our decking range is produced here in Britain in a carbon-neutral production facility.

Whatever trend you decide to take on this year, let National Plastics help you on your way to creating your perfect home and garden. Find your local branch here and start your 2022 project.
