A review of 2022

2022 was a busy but successful year for National Plastics. We saw the opening of new branches, investment in our existing network of national branches and the introduction of an array of new products, all of which have helped to bring quality products and invaluable trade knowledge closer to our customers.

Extending our branch network

We are continually looking to extend our nationwide network of branches. Allowing our customers to experience our products first hand, whilst providing them with a personal, face-to-face service is invaluable in building strong customer relationships

In 2022 we chose Chester as our new location and opened our branch on Chester Trade Park. The opening of this latest branch has brought our brand closer to customers in the area, negating the need for them to travel further afield for the National Plastics products they require.

The branch is managed by Neil, who joined National Plastics in August 2022. With several years of sales experience within the plastics industry, Neil is the perfect person to run our Chester branch. As well as knowledge of the sector, Neil is also very much involved in the local community, including coaching ladies and girls’ football at Airbus UK in Broughton, enabling him to bring a local knowledge to his role.

Since its opening, Chester has proved popular with both trade and public customers alike, with many citing the convenient location and the personal service as reasons to return. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Neil for his hard work in getting our latest branch off the ground and wish him and his team all the best for the coming year.

Branch Refurbishments 

As well as looking to expand our network of branches, we’ve also invested heavily in our existing outlets with a series of refurbishment projects at our Worthing, Poole, Newport, Swansea, Cardiff, Pyle, Tamworth, Sunderland, and Exeter sites.

In these branches we have increased the number of products on display and created distinct signage to clearly showcase our ranges. We have also made these branches easier to navigate, allowing visitors to find exactly what they are looking for quickly and effortlessly. We’ve also introduced several initiatives, including allowing customers to order product samples, such as bathroom panels, so they can view them in situ before buying.

Going forward, we hope to continue the roll out of our refurbishment initiative across our nationwide network, providing customers – regardless of location – with the same high level of care and service they have come to expect from National Plastics.

New products

2022 saw the introduction of an array of new products to the already extensive National Plastics range.

The first addition was our clear polycarbonate sheeting. This extremely versatile sheeting is a lightweight yet robust solution that can be used in a variety of different applications, from cold frames, green houses, and bicycle shelters, to roofing, sun lounges, porches, and conservatories. Available in five thicknesses and a wide range of sheet sizes, the unique characteristics of this product make it flexible, strong, safe and with excellent light transmission. Its strength also means it will not shatter under impact, providing customers with the peace of mind that them and their loved ones are safe and protected.

The next new product added to our range in 2022 was our eco-friendly wood composite decking. Manufactured by Ecodek from 95% recycled and sustainably sourced materials, these composite decking boards mirror the beauty of real timber, but with none of the drawbacks. They do not require any treatments or paints to protect them from the elements and are virtually maintenance free. They are also slip and splinter resistant, making them safe underfoot in all weathers, and rot and split resistant, which helps to keep them looking like new for longer. All of this, together with their environmental credentials, make these boards the ideal alternative to wood decking.

2022 saw the continued popularity of home extensions as more people looked to enlarge their existing homes rather than move, with kitchen extensions being one of the most popular options. It was this that led us to introduce our new range of roof lanterns and associated products.

From our sleek and sophisticated roof lanterns and range of aluminium, composite and bi-fold doors, to our rubber roof range, drainage, guttering, fascias, and outside decking we can now provide you with everything you need to create your dream extension. And once you’ve finished with the outside, we can also offer inspiration for your internal decoration with our wide range of decorative wall panels and skirting and architraves.

From new ranges to top selling products, we thought it would be interesting to look at those products which proved the most popular in 2022.

Top selling products

Far and away our best-selling product of 2022 was our White Marble Shower Panel. These stylish wall panels are constructed entirely of PVC but emulate the beauty and class of real marble. They can be fixed with adhesive to most flat surfaces and as no grout is required, they are quick and easy to install. These panels are also almost maintenance free and extremely hygienic, making them the perfect choice for bathrooms and showers. Their popularity shows that customers are now preferring to purchase alternatives to traditional tiles but are not prepared to compromise on quality or style.

Our entire shower panel range proved extremely popular in 2022, as more people took on home improvement projects. Other products which topped our best seller list included:

White Hollow Soffit Boards – these soffit boards are easy to install and excellent quality. They also provide a superior finish and are easy to maintain.

White Fascia Capping Boards and Black Fascia Capping Boards – these boards are part of our most extensive fascia board range, offering quality and value for money.

Skirting Boards – Skirting boards are the perfect finishing touch for any room renovation. We offer a wide range of designs and colours to suit every style and pocket.
