With all these heatwaves, chances are you’ve been putting off any big outdoor garden projects, waiting for a bit of a breeze. You couldn’t have timed it better… There's still a useful stretch of the year left for outdoor projects, and this is a good moment to tell you about three products that have just arrived at National Plastics branches and online.
The new Ecodek range covers two types of composite decking boards and a privacy fencing system, designed (and tested!) in the UK, and all available now if you're in the middle of a project or planning one. These products have been carefully tested for our weather conditions, and offer some of the best weather protection and design flexibility anywhere in the UK market.
Whether you're a builder or landscaper fitting a client's deck before the autumn sets in, or a homeowner who has been meaning to sort the garden since spring and has finally reached the point of actually doing it, this is the perfect time to crack on. The decking side of the range is ready to go for late-summer and early-autumn projects, while the fencing is ready at the perfect time to start replacing those fence panels that just aren't going to survive another winter.
Meet the new range below!
Why composite is the right material for this kind of work
If you already work with composite decking regularly, this part will cover familiar ground. But for anyone still wondering how to choose the right decking or weighing up composite vs timber, it's worth being clear about what composite actually changes in practice.
Composite decking is made from a blend of wood fibres and recycled plastic polymers, formed into boards that hold up considerably better than timber over time. Unlike natural timber, composite boards don't rot, they don't warp in wet conditions, and they don't require the annual ritual of sanding and oiling at the start of every season. That last point matters more than it might seem: for homeowners, it means fitting a deck and largely forgetting about it. For trade customers fitting on behalf of clients, it means fewer callbacks and a product that genuinely delivers on the promises made at the point of sale.
Because the surface of a composite board is engineered rather than grown, things like grip, UV resistance ,and colour stability can be built in from the manufacturing stage rather than treated on or added afterwards.
The Ecodek range is built from 88% recycled and sustainably sourced materials (specifically, a blend of hardwood wood fibres and recycled HDPE), which gives the products solid environmental credentials without requiring anyone to pay over the odds. Both decking boards use hidden clip fixings for a clean, finished result, and come in 3.6m lengths that suit standard UK joist spacings.
The two new decking boards: Ecodek Revive and Ecodek Evolution
Ecodek’s two new boards occupy different positions in the composite market, so let’s dig into the differences.
It’s also worth noting that both boards are supported by the same accessories: capped L-corners, end caps, fascia boards, locking clips and starter board screws. If you're fitting a complete decking project from a single source, National Plastics can supply everything you need for it.
Ecodek Revive
Ecodek Revive is a hollow-profile, capped composite board available in four dual-tone colour combinations: Ash Wood and Birch, Cherry and Oak, Stone Grey and Smoke Grey, and Walnut and Black. That hollow profile keeps the board weight down to 2.6kg per metre, which makes a real practical difference when you're handling full-length boards across a day's installation. Trust us, your back will thank you.
What sets Revive apart from other composite boards in this category is the reversibility: rather than offering the same colour with a different texture on each side, Revive gives you a genuinely different shade on either surface, from four carefully paired two-tone combinations. For designers and homeowners who want flexibility in how a finished deck looks against its surroundings, that's a useful thing to have. It's available now and backed by a 10-year warranty.
Ecodek Evolution
Ecodek Evolution is the solid-board option, and it brings EcoTech® into the picture. EcoTech® is Ecodek's advanced outer capping layer, applied here for exceptional resistance to staining, UV fade and surface discolouration. In reality, that means the colour you or your client chooses at the start of a project is the colour that's still there several years down the line, with very little required in between beyond the occasional quick clean.
Six colour options mean all the major options for contemporary garden design are covered: you’ve got Oak, Cherry, Black, Stone Grey, Smoke Grey, and Ash Wood. Like Revive, each board is reversible by woodgrain texture on either side, and the range is backed by a 25-year warranty for both residential and commercial installations.
The launch of Ecodek Privacy Fencing (at just the right time)
Composite fencing is a bit of a newer category than composite decking, but the logic behind it is essentially the same.
Timber fence panels work well enough when they're new. But as you’ve probably already learned the hard way, after a few years of being rained on, frozen, dried out and then rained on again… the picture has usually changed considerably. Posts rot at the base, panels bow and loosen. And then when the first proper winter storm arrives (which in the UK it reliably does, often with more enthusiasm than strictly necessary) timber fencing tends to show pretty quickly what it's made of. Fencing callouts and emergency panel replacements in January are nobody's favourite kind of work, but they’re common.
The Ecodek Privacy Fencing range takes a different approach to these issues. It's a full-board composite system with no gaps between panels, which means it delivers on privacy properly while also offering significant wind resistance; the solid composite surface redirects wind rather than letting it whistle through, complete with a 10-year warranty for peace of mind.
The panels (that come in Black, Oak, Blue Grey, and Smoke Grey) are capped composite boards on an aluminium post system, designed to be straightforward to install with pluggable boards and L-clip fixings. Matching gates are available from National Plastics and arrive pre-assembled, so fitting the lock mechanism is all that's needed to complete your boundary.
For trade customers working on full garden projects, having composite fencing available through the same supplier as the decking range means you can now offer a complete outdoor space in a single material family, without splitting the job across different product sources (or having to go to multiple different locations to find parts). That's a useful thing to be able to tell a client in late summer, when a tatty fence and an unfinished deck are both on the list and the window to sort them before winter is starting to close.
And remember: our Trade Account comes with heaps of benefits including free delivery, faster purchasing, and local discounts where available.
The Ecodek range at National Plastics: Available now!
All three Ecodek products are available now through National Plastics branches and online. If you're close to one of our branches, it's worth coming in before you order: colour finishes and woodgrain textures read differently in person than they do on a screen, and making a decision based on a physical board in the right light is considerably more reliable than going from a photograph. The branch team can also help with quantities, joist spacing questions, and making sure you have the right accessories alongside the boards.
If you'd rather start online, everything is available through the National Plastics website with full specifications alongside. Sample requests are available for both decking ranges if you or your client wants to see a colour in hand before committing.
The range is in, the timing is perfect, and the UK stock is there when you're ready to order. Whether you're fitting a deck for a customer before the summer's properly over or thinking ahead about a garden boundary that needs to survive the coming months in better shape than the current one, it's a good moment to take a look at what's available.
