2026 Home Improvement Trends
As we draw near to the end of the year, our experts have been turning their attention to those trends they believe will dominate 2026.
After talking to customers, installers, and in-branch colleagues our team has discovered that there will be two key home improvement trends next year: a demand for even more energy-efficient homes and a desire for more contemporary colours on the outside of our homes.
1. An energy efficient home
With energy bills continuing to rise, an energy-efficient home is not just a comfortable one, but it is also a cost effective one.
There are several ways you can create an energy-efficient home:
-
uPVC doors and windows
Windows and doors are the main culprits when it comes to letting draughts and moisture into your home. Correctly installed, modern uPVC or composite windows and doors help to keep the cold air out and the warm air in. Combine with double or triple glazing and your home should stay warm and dry even in the most extreme of weather.
As well as creating a comfortable, cosy environment, uPVC windows and doors can help to significantly reduce energy bills. By keeping your home warm and preventing cold air from entering, uPVC windows and doors lessen the time you need to use your heating, thereby costing you less over time.
-
Insulated cladding
Cladding, particularly insulated cladding, can add an additional layer of protection to your home. This layer will also help to prevent cold air entering and warm air escaping, creating a warmer, more cost-effective home.
-
Maintaining your rainwater and drainage systems
Our drainage systems help to direct water away from our homes. However, if damaged, water can escape guttering and downpipes and seep into the walls and foundations of your home. There is potential that over time this water can cause mould within your home. This mould can create a damp, unpleasant environment and you may find you're using your heating more to try and combat these effects.
Inspecting your drainage systems on a regular basis and resolving any issues quickly will help to prevent damage.
2. Contemporary colouring
Whilst white and black roofline products remain popular, there is a growing demand for more contemporary colours such as black, light grey, and anthracite grey. As more homeowners opt for alternative toned window frames and doors, they are looking for cladding, guttering, fascias, and soffits in complementary colours.
Here at National Plastics, we offer both plain and wood grain effect soffits and fascias in a wide variety of colours, from traditional white and black to the more modern Anthracite Grey, Sherwood, Black Ash, and Rosewood. With such a choice of colours available, we're confident that you will find the perfect tone to complement your home's existing fixtures and fittings.
