How to install PVC panels over existing tiles

There is no need to remove your old, tired, traditional tiles before you install your new maintenance-free PVC wall panels – this means no plastering, no mess, and no fuss. However, there are a few things to consider before you start your bathroom transformation.

Perfect preparation

Firstly, look at the condition of your existing tiles. PVC wall panels are extremely forgiving so the surface does not have to be completely smooth. However, any loose tiles should be removed, and the remaining tiles wiped clean of any residue. Once you’ve done this and your existing tiles are dry, you are ready to install your new wall panels.

Firstly, start with your trims. Measure the wall and cut the trims to the required length before fixing them to the wall.

Next, move on to your PVC bathroom wall panels. Measure and mark the first panel. If the last panel on your wall ends at a corner, cut the first one to width which will result in a full panel at the finished end. Once your first panel is cut, remove the tongue to ensure the panel fits fully into the trim, apply adhesive or silicone to the back of the panel, and fit into the trim. Repeat this process as you work your way along the wall, ensuring any pattern aligns and remembering to check your panels with a spirit level.
